Marriage
Marriage Counseling includes a free consultation either individually or as a couple. During the initial session, the problem is explored, information is given, and a future appointment can be made if desired. Generally, in future sessions each mate is seen individually to lay a foundation for better communication. In addition to talk therapy, emphasis is given to learning new skills to practice between sessions. Cost is flexible and some scholarships are available.Parenting
One must discipline an older child differently from a small child with a radical shift occuring around the age of ten. One truth is certain: a child will inevitably become bigger, stronger, faster, and more mobile. When the parent become the enemy, attempts at discipline flounder.
With small children, rapid progress can often be made by teaching the parent how to listen, how to teach behaviors (discipline, not punishment), and how to keep expectations in line with the child's developmental.
Even with older children, sessions with the parent reinforce the approach to be used in creating behavioral skills, developing empathy, and encouraging emotional development.
As with other areas of work, a free consultation is offered, cost is flexible, and some scholarships are available.
Study Skills
The Study Skills program sees school as life rather than seeing school as a brief, unrealistic era. An unfair teacher may foreshadow an unfair boss; a dull assignment may predate a dull job. By treating school challenges and problems as real life, coping skills, self-motivation skills, and relationship skills enhance learning and living.
Also, helping the student see four relevant life-skills taught in seemingly irrelevant subjects makes time in school worthwhile.
Basic to the study skills program is teaching a student a technique for learning anything, no matter how boring or irrelevant.
During a free consultation questions are answered and future appointments can be scheduled if desired. Cost if flexible and some scholarships are available.
Personal Growth
Many people desire growth in specific areas such as handling stress, managing anger, or creating self-motivation. Others feel that somehow life should be more fulfilling. During a free consultation, the client's concern is explored and an approach is discussed.
A future appointment can be scheduled if desired.
Other areas that are often of interest are budgeting, time management, decision-making, conflict resolution, communication skills, and many other practical concerns.

Spiritual Growth
Many Christians never experience the abundant life Jesus spoke about (John 10:10).
We teach an approach to spiritual growth that is psychologically and spiritually sound. Old, conditioned responses to life can be dealt with, excessive anxiety toward the future can be managed, leaving one free in the eternal now to experience God's peace and guidance.
Cost is flexible and some scholarships are available.
Private Sessions, Counseling, speaking engagements
Our basic program involves either private sessions or counseling sessions. The difference is that a private session centers around an area of personal growth while our faith-based counseling program focuses on a personal problem needing attention. Private sessions and counseling sessions are scheduled for weekly appointments.
Speaking engagements for a church, club, or organization may be scheduled through the BECOMING office.
